West Virginia Speeding Ticket Info

How can I handle my In-State Tickets?

In West Virginia, payment locations can vary. For example, in some counties the payment location usually depends on what officer gave you the ticket. For example, if you are given a ticket by a state police officer or deputy, you'll most likely need to pay the ticket in magistrate court, but if the ticket is given by a city police officer, you'll need to contact the city court.

Check the back of your citation for further information. If none is included, or you find it confusing, you can contact the officer who gave you the ticket, or the officer's station. If you don't particularly feel like chatting with the police, call your local courthouse or magistrate court for information.

For information about unpaid West Virginia tickets, please call (304) 558-2058.

How Do I handle my tickets out of state?

Sometimes paying a ticket you get in another state can be a bit more of a hassle simply because you don't live in that state. Yet the payment process doesn't differ that much from paying a ticket you receive in West Virginia.

In the event that you receive a ticket in another state, make sure to ask the officer for information on where to appear for court, payment procedures and locations, etc. You can also check the back of the citation or contact the magistrate court in the county where you received the ticket.

For information about unpaid out-of-state tickets, please call (304) 558-0238.
