New York DUI Laws and Statistics
There were 1,231 fatalities from motor vehicle accidents in 2008, 409 of which were alcohol related.
New York’s DWI Laws carry heavier penalties whenever the driver has a passenger who is under 16 in the vehicle. This is considered a class “E’ felony and carry fines and/or jail time.
First New York DUI Conviction
- Jail Time: Up to one year
- Fine Amount: Between $500 to $1,000
- Drivers License Suspension Duration: 6 Month Min.
