Indiana Driver’s License
Driver Education:
For drivers under the age of 16 who wish to obtain a license, you have to take a driver’s education program at your local public school (even if you attend private school).
For those who do not want to take classes at school, one can attend a program at another location, as long as it has been approved by the state of Indiana. Click here for a list of those alternative programs.
In total, aspiring drivers will need at least 30 hours of in-class driver’s education and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel experience.
For those with a “B” or better grade point average, and who also are rated as having a “B” in the driver’s education course, they are able to skip the on road portion of the license test!
