Why would you stay at an airport hotel? An airport hotel is not usually one's final destination, but a matter of convenience.

For instance, if you live far from the airport, and do not want to drive for several hours and then spend 10 hours on a plane, it makes sense to drive the day before, and crash near the airport. Also, many international flights these days coming in or out of the US experience delays, and these delays often cause travelers to miss their connecting flights. As a result, individuals have to spend the night in a layover area. In these situations and many others, an American airport hotel is a great solution.

But what about the noise from the planes taking off all day and all night? How clean can such heavily-trafficked hotels be? And, will a cab really take me a few minutes from the hotel to the airport?

The majority of windows in hotel airports are made of tripled glazed glass which was designed to neutralize outside noise. So, you will sleep safe and sound, despite the 747s flying over your head. That is all well and good, but if different people are in and out of the hotels every night, how clean can the rooms be? Most airport hotels expend considerable effort and energy (at least the well-known corporate chain hotels) to uphold high standards of cleanliness, because they know that their success depends on customer comfort.

However, when selecting a hotel do an online search, because dirty hotels do exist – fortunately, they get a bad online rep very fast, so you will know where not to stay with a few strokes of the keyboard. In terms of getting to the airport, do not worry about a cab – you can take your airport hotel's shuttle! And, in some cases, such as in Philadelphia, there is an airport hotel that is directly connected to the airport terminals. Thus, you can literally walk from your hotel room to your cabin seat.
